Weddings are one of the most joyous moments, but can also be one of the most hectic. Brides often spend countless hours organizing their dream event, while frequently forgetting about the most important detail- themselves!
Whenever I work with a bride who comes to the practice, the first thing I want to do is commend her for taking the time to invest in herself. There are so many PERMANENT enhancements or ‘fixes’ you can do before that special day, a wedding should be your excuse to be and feel your best!
Wedding prep (in the Renew MD world…of course) is broken down into 3 categories:
I am going to write about each category in the next few weeks, and provide details on the most common treatments in those areas. With that, let’s dive right into Body sculpting!
Non-invasive body sculpting treatments have become one of the fastest growing procedures in the medical aesthetics industry. These treatments are extremely popular as they permanently eliminate fat, leading to ‘inch loss’ in targeted areas without surgery. There are a variety of treatments that fall in the body sculpting category, like Coolsculpting or fat melting. They are all great options and really only vary on the treatment experience and the time it takes to get results. In my practice body sculpting treatments are extremely popular, especially amongst clients who are preparing for a wedding, reunion or a special vacation. Even the leanest of people have stubborn pockets of fat that bother them, and body sculpting treatments are ideal to permanently eliminate these.
Is body sculpting right for me?
Ideal candidates are generally healthy individuals who are in a normal weight range, and despite their best efforts at eating a healthy diet and exercising regularly, cannot lose certain pockets of fat. I think most of us can find that annoying bulge that never seems to get smaller no matter how rigorously we exercise or diet. These bulges are perfect targets for body sculpting and can be performed on literally any part of the body. What parts of the body can you perform body sculpting on? Body sculpting treatments are extremely versatile and can be performed on any part of the body. The most common areas we see clients looking for reduction in are the abdomen, ‘love handles’ and ‘saddle bags.’
What kind of treatments are done in body sculpting?
This part can get a little technical, but makes more sense when you consider treatments to fall into two basic categories- cryolipolysis (cool sculpting) and thermal reduction (fat-melting). Coolsculpting is a 45 minutes to 1 hour long session, depending on the area being treated. Typically, a client will need anywhere from two to six sessions based on the amount of reduction needed in the area. Coolsculpting sessions are performed a month apart, and it takes about 90 days to see results after each session. In other words, if a client opts to do Coolsculpting they are not going to see their end results until about four to six months from their first session. This is an important consideration when you are doing body sculpting to get ready for a big event like a wedding. If a client tells me that they have to achieve fat reduction in a smaller time frame, I recommend that they do thermal reduction (AKA fat melting) instead. Fat melting is really a two-step process.
First a laser is used to shrink fat cells and then a process called ultrasonic cavitation is performed to break those shrunken fat cells. Fat melting sessions are one hour long, with laser being left on for the first thirty minutes, followed by ultrasonic cavitation for the next half hour. Unlike Coolsculpting, clients will get small measurable results immediately after each session, but typically need about twelve sessions to achieve their final goal. Sessions can be spaced as far apart as one’s schedule allows, but if you are in a time crunch, it is safe and effective to do as many as 3 sessions a week.
Do you need anesthesia for the treatments? Is there any down time?
One of the best things about body sculpting is that it can be achieved without any cuts or anesthesia. The treatments are painless and do not have any associated downtime.
